  • [Title] Prevalence of ETV6/RUNX1 Fusion Gene in Pediatric Patients with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in Iran.
  • OBJECTIVE: ETV6/RUNX1 (also known as TEL/AML1) is the most frequent gene fusion in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).
  • Moreover, reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) technique was used to amplify transcripts of leukemia-specific chromosome fusion gene ETV6/RUNX1 and to monitor the expression levels of the ETV6/RUNX1 in patients according to Van Dongen et al protocol.
  • FINDINGS: On the basis of French-American-British (FAB) classification, 47 individuals had ALL-L1.
  • CONCLUSION: The ETV6/RUNX1 fusion gene is a common genetic anomaly in Iranian childhood ALL patients and the prevalence of the ETV6/RUNX1 fusion gene is similar to that of ALL patients in other countries.

  • BACKGROUND: Inflammatory bowel disease frequently begins during childhood or adolescence.
  • Fecal calprotectin is an inflammatory marker tested in several studies including pediatric patients with inflammatory bowel disease.
  • We included original English-written articles referred to pediatric patients with inflammatory bowel disease and measured fecal calprotectin levels.
  • CONCLUSIONS: The fecal calprotectin test could be used for supporting diagnosis or confirming relapse of inflammatory bowel disease in pediatric patients.

  • [Title] Prognostic impact of the expression of NCR1 and NCR3 NK cell receptors and PD-L1 on advanced non-small cell lung cancer.
  • When patients were stratified according to the level of PD-L1 expression by NSCLC cells, within the PD-L1<sup>high</sup> category (>5% positive tumors), the sole parameter that affected prognosis was the expression of <i>NCR1</i>.
  • However, in patients bearing tumors with negative PD-L1 expression on tumor or tumor-infiltrating stromal cells, the ΔBC<sup>low</sup> patients exhibited a dismal prognosis.
